Busy Day

Well today I finished up the fall cleaning for the chickens. I put up 2 more gutters to catch water drips, planted rye in the chicken run, and cleaned the last 2 pens and put down new bedding.

I also pulled some trees in the fence line and dug 2 post holes for the fencing we are working on. I gave the trees I pulled out to the goats so they can strip the leaves.

Harvest Time Pests

Well you can tell some harvesting has started because these stupid little black bugs are back. They are tiny and really hurt when they bite but for me don’t swell into a big itchy bite which is a good thing I guess. They almost look like dirt in the picture.

Pulling Hydraulic Hose

Well our old Case 1816 skid loader broke a hydraulic line that runs the grapple. I was sprayed with fluid when it broke. Not fun! So I decided to pull it out today. I took some pictures for anyone that may want to see what I did.

The line runs from the front to the back, then back to the front under the seat to the battery area under the floor.

Here is a picture of the connection under the floor. Ours was possibly repaired in the past because it had this connection then another one further on that connects to the foot control.

I tied a piece of twine to the hose before a I pulled it through so that I could pull the replacement hose back through.

This is the hose out and it measures about 12′ long.

Greener Pastures

I finally got one of our small groups of goats moved. This group includes 2 doelings and 1 wether. I will add a picture of the area they were in when I get a chance. They were so excited to be in the new area that they didn’t even touch their grain. They are penned in with electric goat netting and a solar energizer from Premier1.
